Bologna, Italy (PRESSABOUT) 12 May 2011- Cim announces the introduction of the latest solution for the decentralized issuance of electronic passports.

The MAXIMA 140 EP Electronic Passport is an inkjet desktop printer which is already known to be a reference solution in the decentralized issuance of electronic passports, travel documents and Visa stickers.

The MAXIMA 140 EP offers high print quality with low ink consumption, in addition it requires no maintenance, it is easy to use and gives great performances. The MAXIMA 140 EP is a cartridge based engine which ensures high efficiency in the use of inks: less waste and less cleaning cycles.

The MAXIMA 140 EP is based on thermal inkjet technology which provides high quality, high resolution (from 600 x 600 to 4800 x 1200 dpi), durable printouts and ensures optimized cartridge use and manageability. The document handling of the MAXIMA 140 EP is designed for standard ICAO 9303 compliant passports, but it is also suitable for all e-passports (including Diplomatic) and on-page Visas.

The MAXIMA 140 EP engine is equipped with a thickness adaptor and a vertical and horizontal automatic alignment of the document. It is also provided with an RFID encoding module and a colour scanning module. In particular, the integrated high quality colour document scanning module affords verification of the print quality. It allows a comparison to be made between printed/transferred data and hardcopy of the passport as a proof of print. As a result, the scanning module is a secure and efficient verification device of the document printing process.

In conclusion, the modular design allows specific configurations: through an internal USB hub additional modules as RFID, imaging capability, laminator, turn-page and other devices may be integrated.

The Maxima 140 EP has a compact, easy to access and user friendly design. With it’s modern technological features, the Maxima 140 EP provides a new solution for the decentralized issuance of electronic passports.
