On Sunday October 3rd thousands of people will be drawn to Congers Station Park on Burnside Avenue and Lake Road to celebrate everything Italian at the 4th annual Congers Valley Cottage Rotary Italian Festival. From 11am till 6pm, Congers becomes Rockland’s own Little Italy! Free admission and near by parking with convenient shuttle service are available. A rain date of October 17th is scheduled.
“The 2010 Congers Valley Cottage Rotary Italian Festival includes festival favorites along with new vendors, local restaurants and an awesome new mobile gaming arcade! And cooking demonstrations by Chef Marcello Russodivito of Marcello’s Ristorante will go on throughout the afternoon. The entire club puts its heart and soul into planning our festival,” said Chairperson, Nick Longo, Jr. “An important club fundraiser that supports our programs and community giving throughout the year.” Nick continued.
A daylong event featuring live entertainment and delicious Italian specialties from popular local restaurants awaits with tempting menus of Pizza, Sausage & Peppers, Pasta, Meatballs, Hero sandwiches, cannoli’s, zeppoles, biscotti, Italian ices and so much more. No one will leave hungry, that’s a promise!
Returning to this year’s festival is the popular Oktoberfest style beer garden serving great beers and seasonal specialties.
Arts & Crafts, specialty vendors, Italian themed t-shirt and novelty items will line the street for fabulous shopping. For the children, P.O.P. “bounce house” inflatable rides, a pumpkin patch to paint and decorate your own pumpkins to take home just in time for the fall season. Be sure to visit the Congers History Museum located at the train station, free admission, and open throughout the day.
