CUBRID 3.0 IS NOW LIVE
SEOUL – October 13, 2010 – CUBRID, an open source Database Management System, goes 3.0 – the newest version of the most optimized database system for Web Applications, which brings in improved operating convenience and stability. CUBRID 3.0 features extended SQL Syntax Compatibility, more enhanced high-availability feature, more logical, comparison, and bitwise operators, mathematical and date/time functions. With CUBRID 3.0 additional 20 new functions are introduced in the PHP API.
CUBRID 3.0 sets the pace with dozens of new extensions to deliver more convenient and more optimized open source database solution for Web Applications.
SQL Syntax Compatibility Extensions: The new version supports table creation through the schema replication of an existing table or total data replication, as well as multi-record input. It allows to omit the FROM clause and use the LIMIT. With 3.0 TRUNCATE and DO statements are supported, ALTER statement and GROUP BY clause are extended.
Additional Operators and Functions: CUBRID 3.0 provides a larger number of logical, comparison, and bitwise operators. A set of new mathematical, date/time, string and database information functions as well as date output format specifiers are introduced. The PHP API available through PECL now has 20 more functions to work with the CUBRID Database System.
Improved Operating Convenience and Stability: One of the most important features of the database systems is its ability to fail over during the server down time. CUBRID 3.0 now provides a more stable and more enhanced High-Availability feature. Besides an option is added to the cubrid compactdb utility to enable online database space compacting.
These major functional additions and SQL Syntax Compatibility extensions make CUBRID 3.0 the most advanced version in its product line.
“CUBRID has already made an important breakthrough in the database industry. We first introduced the Click Counter feature which decreases the number of transactions and allows to process up to six times more queries than other solutions, thus, making CUBRID the most optimized database management system for Web Applications. We make every endeavor to constantly evolve by releasing a minor version with the most requested features from our users once in every one to four months”, says Chol Kyu Kang, CUBRID Development Team Leader.
