Charleston, S.C. – September 17, 2010 – Mary Ann Solberg of The Friends of the Daniel Island Library announced today details of the Dine Around for the Library for the third annual Daniel Island Harvest Tour of Homes. The tour will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2010 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Dine Around for the Library feature of the tour encourages tour goers to eat breakfast, lunch and/or dinner on Daniel Island. In return, every restaurant on the Island will donate up to 20% of their sales that day.

Each Daniel Island restaurant has agreed to donate a portion of their proceeds that day to The Friends of the Daniel Island Library fund. When tour participants show the Restaurant Pass found inside their tour tickets to their servers, up to 20% of their meal cost will be contributed. Home tour participants can enjoy the home tour and start or end with lunch or dinner at an Island restaurant. Some restaurants also have take out options for tour goers who want to dine at home or have a picnic.

The generous restaurant partners in the Dine Around for the Library are as follows: Ali Baba Deli, Daniel Island Grille, Dragon Palace, Et Cetera Gourmet Food Shoppe, Island Town Cafe, Lana’s Mexican, Laura Albert’s Tasteful Options, Orlando’s Pizza, Queen Anne’s Revenge, Quiznos, Hammett’s Landing, Subway, Two Rivers Tavern, Vespa and Wasabi. All Daniel Island restaurants will maintain their regular Saturday business hours.

“I’ve always been interested in history and the stories of people who lived in the past. Without libraries it makes it hard to explore these things,” says Michael Lauer, Manager at Two Rivers Tavern. “So when the opportunity came up to be involved in the Dine Around for the Daniel Island Library, I was more than willing to lend a hand.” Mary Ann Solberg adds, “The Daniel Island Library is a part of life on the Island. It provides resources and memories that are priceless to the community. And with the help of generous restaurants on Daniel Island we will have the ability to provide these things for years to come.”

Tickets for the Harvest Home Tour cost $20 payable by cash or check in advance at these locations: Daniel Island Real Estate, A Floral Affair, and Island Expressions on Daniel Island and at Zinnia in Mt. Pleasant. Tickets can also be obtained from Home Tour committee members. In addition, tickets will be available the day of the tour for $25 at the Daniel Island Library. All proceeds of the Harvest Tour of Homes and Dine Around for the Library will stay on the Island and be used to enhance the Daniel Island Library and its resources.
