Birds, mice, squirrels and other small animals can use the dryer lint for nesting material. Hang it outside in a mesh bag and they will be happy to carry it off and put it to good use.”
Brusseau went on to suggest a good way to teach children to clean the lint screen after every load, “Clothes dryers are so easy to operate that even a child can do it, so it’s important that they are motivated to remember to clean the lint filter. Once they collect enough of it, parents can reward them by creating dough they can use for art projects on a rainy day. Mix the lint with water to form a paste, shape it and paint it when it dries.”
