Do not use sheet metal screws to join dryer duct sections; they protrude to the inside and catch lint. The inside should be as smooth as possible; join pieces of duct work with metal tape, not duct tape; duct tape is combustible.
Short and straight are the rule for the dryer duct route to the dryer vent outside. The less distance air has to flow, the faster it flows. Sharp turns and greater distance cause the dryer to labor harder to expel the hot air.
