Gas and electric industry professionals of all levels will convene at the Omni Chicago Hotel March 7-10 for Energy Essentials Week, a week-long opportunity for intensive and intimate instruction on the business side of natural gas, electricity and renewable energy as well as networking with others in each industry.
Energy Essentials Week is being organized and offered by Enerdynamics, the leading provider of energy business acumen training. Since 1995, Enerdynamics has helped companies and their employees better understand the business aspects of the gas and electric industries. By offering six of Enerdynamics’ most popular classes in one week and at one central location, event officials hope to maximize attendees’ learning opportunities while reducing the travel expense and time constraints that often impede seminar attendance.
“The concept for Energy Essentials Week is to offer a variety of seminars so that participants can combine courses to create a unique learning experience,” explains Enerdynamics CEO John Ferrare. “With travel budgets still extremely tight, this allows for greater opportunities to learn at a lower cost.”
In addition to helping veteran industry professionals keep up with rapidly changing business trends and topics like shale gas, smart grids, and renewable generation, Energy Essentials Week presents a unique offering to those who are new to or seeking enhanced employment opportunities in the fast-growing and ever-changing world of energy. A recent survey by the Center for Energy Workforce Development concluded that three factors are causing a gap in the natural gas and electricity workforce pipeline: an aging workforce with about half of skilled employees in key areas potentially retiring by 2015; skill gaps in the talent pool; and changing energy technology. This leaves the door open for young professionals entering the workforce or more experienced workers refocusing their careers.
During Energy Essentials Week, each of the six seminars is taught by a subject matter expert with vast industry experience and proven skills in clearly explaining the complexities of the business. Among the courses offered during Energy Essentials Week are:
a “big picture” perspective of the dynamic and fast-paced electric industry; offered March 7-8
an inside look at electric markets and services, and the strategies used in both regulated and competitive wholesale and retail markets; offered March 9-10
an in-depth study of the fast-growing renewable electric generation industry; offered March 9
a one-day overview of the difficulties and solutions to renewables grid integration; offered March 10
a “big picture” perspective of the dynamic and fast-paced natural gas industry; offered March 7-8
an inside look at gas markets, the services sold in them and the strategies for success used by market participants; offered March 9-10
Attendees can register for as few or as many classes as they choose. Early registration discounts equaling a $100 savings for one-day classes and a $200 savings for two-day classes are offered to those who register at least three weeks prior to a course’s start date. With the discounts applied, one-day classes cost $695 per person while two-day classes are $1,190 per person. Attendees also are eligible for discounted room rate of $175 per night at the Omni Chicago Hotel during Energy Essentials Week.
