The Tournament will raise Money for uninsured and underinsured Women with Breast cancer in San Diego

San Diego, CA, April 01, 2011 — One in five women in San Diego County are not receiving regular, recommended breast screenings due to lack of access and funding. To support these women, Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, San Diego is the selected beneficiary of the second annual GOLF FOR THE CAUSE tournament on Friday, May 13, 2011. The event, taking place at the well-manicured Eastlake Golf Course in Chula Vista, will raise funds for uninsured and underinsured San Diegans diagnosed with the disease.

“Golf for the Cause is a win-win event,” said Laura Farmer Sherman, executive director of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, San Diego. “It’s a great way for people to get outdoors and enjoy a game of golf while simultaneously helping our community. On behalf of our organization and the women we serve, we are extremely grateful for the generosity of Eastlake Golf Course and the many sponsors who are coming together to make this a success.”

For $90, participants will join Celebrity Master of Ceremonies Brooke Landau of San Diego CW 6 News in a day of leisure and entertainment while golfing for a greater cause. Included in the cost of participation is an 18-hole round of golf, two meals and the chance to win various prizes. An awards dinner and ceremony will be held after the tournament to recognize the winners of the day.
