Harvard Business School professor Dr. Srikant M Datar will deliver the keynote address in the MBAUniverse.com Indian Management Conclave on the theme ‘Rethinking and Rebooting the Indian Management Education’ on August 13, 2010. Dr. Datar is the Senior Associate Dean and Director of Research at Harvard Business School.

Dr. Datar is the co-author of the book ‘Rethinking The MBA’ with David A Garvin and Patrick G Cullen. The book contains concrete ideas as to how business schools can surmount the challenges that come with reinvention, including securing faculty with new skills and experimenting with new pedagogies.

In the book, Dr. Datar says,“Business schools have long been flexible, resilient institutions, and we believe that they are already demonstrating their capacity to respond to today’s challenges. The global economic crisis has intensified the pressure to change, even as the resulting shortage of resources has made change more difficult. Despite these difficulties – or perhaps, more accurately, because of them – we believe that business schools have already begun to reassert their relevance.”

Dr. Datar is a graduate with distinction from University of Bombay. He received gold medals upon graduation from IIM Ahmedabad and the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India. He is a Chartered Accountant and holds two masters degrees and a Ph.D. from Stanford University.

Dr. Datar also holds a rich research background. His research interests are in the cost management and management control areas. He is also serves as the Board of Directors of Novartis AG, ICF International, KPIT Cummins Info Systems Ltd., Stryker Corporation, and Harvard Business Publishing.
