Identify successfully implemented RFID in Government Seminar

I

Ministry of Information and Communication Technology has organized a Government Information Network (GIN) seminar. In this event, there are 400 attendees who are key persons from all government agencies.

With the high number of attendees, the organizer is looking for an effective solution to handle the registration process. Bar code is not a good choice. This technology needs full on-line IT network for verification. However, the full on-line is not available at the seminar site. Besides, bar code needs line-of-sight. Manually scanning each card (400 cards) before entrance can cause the traffic congestion at the seminar.

Identify, which is an expert in RFID technology, proposes RFID technology to cope with the above limitation because RFID does not need line-of-sight and it can support multiple reading. We use UHF passive RFID technology in this event. The organizer will issue a passive RFID tag to each attendee. Each tag will be associated with individual attendee’s profile which is kept in the data base. Two UHF readers are installed at the entrance. When the attendees pass the readers at the entrance, their name and position will be displayed on the screen. Simultaneously their entrance transaction will be recorded into the system for further process.

From the above system, we can automate the entrance verification process for all 400 attendees. This can drastically speed up the process. In addition, the organizer can have the real time number of persons who come to the seminar. Resulting from this event, Identify received positive feedbacks from several organizers to implement this solution in their events.
