Intermec recognized for Workplace Health Promotion

Intermec, Inc. (NYSE: IN) today announced that its regional head office for Asia-Pacific has had its Workplace Health Promotion Programmes recognized by the national Singapore Health Promotion Board.

Singapore, January 21, 2011 — Intermec was awarded a bronze medal in the annual Singapore HEALTH (Helping Employees Achieve Life-Time Health) Award, which focuses on organisations that strive to help their employee’s lead healthy and vibrant lives.

‘Intermec has long been of the opinion that the health of our workers is directly tied to the health of our business,’ said Jansen Ek, Intermec’s GM, VP for the APAC region. ‘This award from the Singapore Health Promotion Board means a great deal to Intermec’s Singapore regional head office and all of our employees – as it shows we are a company who really do care about our workers.’

Through participating in the Singapore HEALTH Award, Intermec was judged on its ability to:

• Provide information and education to increase awareness and knowledge about health (e.g. disseminate information and organize workshops and courses).

• Incorporate motivational and incentive schemes to encourage attitude and behavioral changes.

• Create a supportive environment (e.g. canteen that serves healthier food choices, provision of water coolers and setting up of peer support groups).

• Establish rules and guidelines to ensure a healthy workforce and safe environment.

In today’s competitive business environment, an organization’s productivity, performance and success are increasingly dependent on the health and wellbeing of their employees. Intermec has been recognized by the Health Promotion Board as one of the key organizations with commendable Workplace Health Promotion programs that strive to help their employee’s lead healthy and vibrant lives.

As part of winning a bronze medal in the HEALTH Award’s, Intermec is now able to display the Singapore Health Awards logo on company material and will also be involved in a one-to-one consultation session with a SHA officer to find out how they can improve on their WHP programmes for SHA 2012.
