The Indian Salt Manufacturers’ Association in collaboration with the Salt Commissioner, Govt. Of India and Industries Commissioner Govt. of Gujarat is organizing India International Salt Summit, 2010 during 22-24, January, 2010 at Nirma University Auditorium, S. G. Highway, and Ahmedabad, the commercial capital of the State of Gujarat in Western India.
The Indian Salt Manufacturers’ Association, Mumbai, India, representing salt manufacturers who account for about 80% of the India’s salt production and The Salt Commissionaire is the Nodal Agency of Government of India, responsible for the growth and development of salt industry in India, arranging distribution of salt for human and industrial consumption, promotion of exports, quality monitoring and salt fortification programmes. The State of Gujarat accounts for over 70% of the salt produced in India. The State is also a home for bulk of the country’s Caustic Soda and Soda Ash production and salt refining facilities. Industries Commissionaire, Gujarat is the focal agency responsible to implement various schemes for the development of salt industry in the State. Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute, Bhavnagar (Gujarat), a premier Research & Development Institution is associated as the Knowledge Partner for this Summit.
