Dr. Joseph Bolen, Chief Scientific Officer of Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. will be the keynote speaker at GTCbio’s 4th Annual Protein Kinases in Drug Discovery Conference taking place on May 4-5, 2009 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Dr. Bolen will deliver his keynote address entitled “Preclinical Imperatives for Translational Continuity in the Clinical Development of Protein Kinase Inhibitors” at this year’s conference. The presentation will highlight the importance of aligning disease and treatment hypotheses with kinase drug action in the context of early clinical trials. Dr. Bolen will discuss what the minimum quantitative and qualitative correlations are to provide a knowledge base sufficient to enhance the accuracy of critical decision making during the translational phase of drug assessment.

Dr. Bolen joined Millennium in 1999 as Vice President of Oncology and was promoted to Senior Vice President of Discovery Research in 2002. In this role, he headed all biological research in the areas of oncology, inflammation, metabolic disease and cardiovascular disease as well as all genomics, informatics and platform technologies. In 2003 Dr. Bolen was appointed Senior Vice President of Research and Drug Discovery, a role in which he headed all biological research and related functions as well as all drug discovery functions. Dr. Bolen was appointed Chief Scientific Officer in 2006.
