Christian Bookstore’s Juice Bar Offers Healthy Beverages and Snacks; Becomes Gathering Place for Customers and Community.
Pottstown, PA, November 17, 2009 — Performance Food Centers congratulates Keith and Brenda Harrison on the successful integration of a juice bar into their business, The Lighthouse Christian Bookstore. The Heaven’s Garden Juice Bar is situated within the bookstore and provides an array of healthy beverages, snacks and a central meeting place for the Christian community.
Starting a juice bar was a logical extension of the original purpose of The Lighthouse Christian Bookstore. The Harrisons opened the bookstore in November 1996 to offer Christian resources and inspirational gifts to their community and a place for people to gather for fun and encouraging events. After much success, the owners knew they wanted to serve the community in a greater way by offering a gathering place that served healthy products to their groups that gather at the bookstore. In 2008 they made the decision to look for a vendor that offered juice bar supplies, including nutritious smoothies and organic coffee and tea to be served within their bookstore.
Once the Harrison’s decided that they wanted to open a juice bar, they did a substantial amount of research to find the right fit for them. Searching for a juice bar distributor online, they encountered Performance Food Centers. “It was important to us to find smoothies that would be nutritious and healthy” mentioned Brenda Harrison. “PFC smoothies are sugar free, all natural, delicious drinks, which are very easy to make.” Mrs. Harrison also pointed out a benefit that was of key importance to The Lighthouse Christian Bookstore: “PFC was also affordable for us, since there were no franchise fees, nor huge requirements for us to get started.”
Performance Food Centers has made it easy for The Lighthouse Christian Bookstore to get into the juice bar business. “Our experience has been AMAZING, our PFC representatives, Ryan and Lindsey Kehl, are very informative and helpful” comments Brenda Harrison. “Performance Food Centers goes out of their way to offer great resources for us to use. We couldn’t be more pleased with our choice.”
At Heaven’s Garden, the smoothie juice bar offers a wide variety of shakes and healthy fitness smoothies that both parents and kids will enjoy. Performance Foods’ Shake of the Month has been very popular” mentions the Harrisons, “Especially October’s Guiltless Pumpkin Pie.” In addition, Heaven’s Garden offers a delightful selection of Allegro coffees and teas which is a perfect accompaniment to an afternoon of quiet reading, or the group conversation of a book club.
Keith and Brenda both agree that operating a Christian store has been a great experience and adding a juice bar has allowed them to grow closer to the community. Acting as a hub of activity, Heaven’s Garden regularly hosts gatherings and concerts, like the upcoming concert by Phillip Larue. A singer/songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee, Phillip has had many songs featured on such shows as The Hills, One Tree Hill, Ghost Whisperer and Harper’s Island. Mr. Larue will be playing Heaven’s Garden on Saturday, December 12, at 5 p.m.
