Local Self-Help Group Leader Invites You to Make a Difference in Your Life This Mental Health Month

L

San Antonio, TX – April, 2010 – In recognition of Mental Health Month this May, Tom Kane, San Antonio Recovery International peer-to-peer self-help group leader, invites anyone dealing with stress, anxiety, fatigue, anger management issues or any other mental or behavioral health concerns to join his group, which meets every Tuesday, at 10:00 A.M. in the Garden Room of the Incarnate Word Retirement Community, 4707 Broadway.
The Recovery International group provides a safe, confidential place to talk about life’s challenges and receive support for self-help efforts. There is no required fee to attend the group, making it an ideal adjunct to mental health care, especially in these economic times.
In the group, people train one another on the use of the cognitive-behavioral training system developed by neuropsychiatrist Abraham Low, MD. These cognitive-behavioral techniques are a simple set of living skills used to change negative thoughts and behaviors; changes in negative attitudes and beliefs follow.
Our organization’s peer-to-peer groups and self-help system have been empowering people to lead peaceful, productive lives for nearly 75 years. In addition to our Tuesday morning group, you can find other groups locally and nationwide, connect to a telephone or online chat group, or learn about our self-help tools and how they change lives for the better at http://www.recoverysa.org
For additional information or to learn about our programs for adolescents, veterans and the judicial system, please contact Chris Jorgensen in our international office (312-962-5992; [email protected]).
