London 2012 Olympic tickets to go on sale

MUMBAI, India, 11th March 2011: The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) has confirmed that tickets for the London 2012 Olympic Games will go on sale from 15 March 2011 to sports fans across the world. Tickets for the international market can be purchased via the National Olympic Committees or an Authorised Ticket Resellers (ATRs). The full list of NOCs and ATRs selling tickets is available via the London 2012 ticketing website.

Up to one million tickets will go on sale outside of the UK to sports fans across the world for the 26 Olympic sports, which will take place at venues in the Olympic Park, as well as iconic locations such as historic Greenwich Park for Equestrian events, Horseguards Parade in central London for Beach Volleyball, Wembley for Football and Wimbledon for Tennis. There will also be events outside of London, with much of the Football tournament hosted at some of the best known stadia in the UK, Sailing at Weymouth and Portland on the south coast and Mountain Biking taking place in Essex.

LOCOG Chairman Sebastian Coe commented, “The Olympic Games represent the pinnacle of achievement for athletes and the greatest sportsmen and women in the world will be coming to the UK and competing at some fantastic venues. One of London’s greatest assets is its diversity – athletes from over 200 nations will be competing and many of them will find a ‘home’ crowd already waiting for them. Supporters from around the world come to the Olympic Games following their athletes and teams and they too will find a warm welcome waiting for them. London will be a magical place to be in the summer of 2012 and I guarantee the visit of a lifetime.”
