Houston, TX, May 12, 2010 — On Friday, May 14, 2010, comedy writer Bayan Rabbani will spend 24 consecutive hours inside a Starbucks coffee shop, interacting with employees and customers, drinking a wide assortment of beverages, and frequently using the restroom. He will tweet and photograph this groundbreaking experiment on the popular comedy website ZUG.com.
When Bayan Rabbani recently spent 24 hours inside a Super Walmart, media outlets across the country picked up his funny commentary on the experience. But no one expected him to repeat the stunt so soon, especially inside a Starbucks.
“I’m very lucky to have one of the only 24 hour Starbucks in Texas right in my hometown of Houston,” says Rabbani. “And what better place to spend a night without sleep than a place with all the coffee I can drink?”
As with his Walmart experience, Rabbani will issue an ongoing stream of comments via Twitter, interacting with fans and even taking their suggestions on things to try next. He also plans to order the world’s longest Starbucks drink: a Venti, sugar-free, non-fat, vanilla soy, double shot, decaf, no foam, extra hot, Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha with light whip and extra syrup, which clocks in at 38 syllables.
Rabbani does not plan to sleep during the 24 hour coffee-drinking marathon, although he may fitfully doze off, if he is able to secure one of the large easy chairs.
A full writeup of this groundbreaking experiment will be published on the humor website ZUG.com, known for its stunts and real-life comedy experiments. “We think that Bayan’s comedy stunts push the boundaries of human endurance,” says editor-in-chief Sir John Hargrave. “He’s a modern-day Houdini. Only, you know, in a Starbucks.”
