Max Agency; Commitment, Development and On-Going Communication

The team at Max Agency is committed to the development and success of talent. However, the agency can only go as far as the talent themselves.

Toronto, ON, October 09, 2008 — “Everybody wants to be a star. Everybody wants to be on TV.” A spiel that, Michelle Weswaldi, Senior Talent Agent, finds herself quoting often in conversations with aspiring models and actors. “This is a world of ‘next top this and idol that. There is a lot of talent out there and a lot of wanna-be stars – it’s a matter of where to start and how to go about your quest.” Most often, it takes an individual going the extra mile for themselves, to find even mediocre success in show-biz. The team at Max Agency knows that the same is true for agencies. “There are a lot of agencies out there and choosing an agency is all about finding your fit. What sets Max Agency apart is that Michael Demarco goes the extra mile to ensure that the team is committed to the success of talent and the success of the agency as a whole. He wants commitment in all aspects.” says Carolina Gonzaga, Senior Booking Agent. As a talent/model management group, Max Agency is a triple threat. Whether it’s providing talent with pro-bono work experience, coordinating workshops with Show-Biz Academy or taking the time to discuss direction – Max Agency takes serious interest in talent that are serious about their aspirations.

Commitment
The team at Max Agency is committed to the development and success of talent. However, the agency can only go as far as the talent themselves. “My interest is in promoting individuals who are absolutely committed to whatever it takes to get a break. Talent that will do the little things and understand that you have to start somewhere,” states Miss Gonzaga. Max Agency sends eager and willing talent to whatever opportunities the team finds: even coordinating work experience and advising talent on how to add to their portfolios independently. The agency also encourages talent to invest in themselves, by continuing to find learning opportunities on their own.

Development
Michael Demarco, Director of Max Agency, decided to jump start spring/summer 2008 by strategizing new opportunities for Max Agency talent. He started with education. Juli-Ann Kay, a top casting director in Canada, teaches workshops at Show-Biz Academy, located in Mississauga Ontario. Demarco began funding workshops, thinking it would be advantageous to have talent coached from the casting side of the table. “Business-is-business. Our business happens to be show-business.” As director of Max Agency, Demarco sees it as advantageous to invest time and funding in coordinating workshops with Juli-Ann Kay. “It’s investing in our talent and encouraging them to invest in themselves. This is a huge leap towards success,” said Carolina Gonzaga, Senior Booking Agent.

Straight To The Point Communication
The team at Max Agency values direct communication. “My interest is not to create a façade of how easy, breezy it is to make it in show business. Getting a role in a commercial or a part in a Music Video is exciting. From the viewer’s perspective it’s short, sweet and easy enough. But for the aspiring model or actor, it often involves waiting for such opportunities and hard work.” The team at Max Agency is honest about the nature of the industry. Max Agency values building lines of communication with talent; from newsletters, tutorials to taking time to prep talent for auditions.
