MOL Europe Obtained AEO Certification

M

MOL Europe Managing Director Masahiro Tanabe proudly received on 22nd March MOL (Europe) BV’s AEO certificate from the Dutch customs. This certificate is comparable to the T-Cpat certification in the United States and covers both customs simplifications and security in the European Union.

MOL is the first shipping line to receive AEO certification covering all their mainland European offices. The coverage extends across ten different countries and thirteen offices under the MOL (Europe) BV legal entity.

It took MOL Europe’s General Affairs department two years of preparation before it submitted the pan-European certification process to the Dutch customs at the end of June 2009. A series of interviews by custom auditors was conducted in Rotterdam and other MOL (Europe) BV branches. The process started in July 2009 and was concluded at MOL Europe’s head office in February 2010.

Mr Tanabe says that many large clients are now seeking partnerships with carriers with AEO status, so all the work attaining the certification has been worthwhile.

The certification, awarded on March 22, 2010 extends across eight different countries and fourteen offices under the MOL (Europe) BV legal entity

The holder of an AEO certificate is subject to fewer physical inspection and document checks. They also receive priority treatment of consignments if selected for controls, reduction of guarantees etc.
