New Universal Charger Incorporates Sunlight to Generate Clean, Green Power

Green company’s flagship product uses exclusive “Light Assisted Power™” to help consumers reduce their carbon footprint.

Thousand Oaks, CA, June 10, 2010 — As the trend for companies to “go green” grows and consumers increasingly seek out brands that are marketed as environmentally responsible, California-based startup Revolve Electronics intends to create a new era in consumer electronics by building every aspect of their business around a deep and committed passion for green. Revolve’s flagship product, the ?eMini universal AC charger, features an exclusive technology called Light Assisted Power™ that uses sunlight to generate clean energy.

In addition to using an integrated retractable AC power plug and a state-of-the-art battery backup system, the ?eMini can also create and store energy by being placed in direct sunlight. Users can recharge their cell phones, Flip cameras, iPods — more than 3,200 devices in all — from a wall outlet, their cars, their computers, or via sunlight…anywhere, anytime.

“At Revolve, we’re about empowering people,” says company president and co-founder Eli Probst. “By choosing to place your ?eMini in the sun whenever possible and recharging your devices with its internal battery instead of plugging into the wall, you can reduce your carbon footprint.” Probst says that it was essential for the ?eMini to be able to utilize both AC power from a wall outlet and Light Assisted Power™ “because having options is the true luxury of empowerment.” But by helping the public reduce its need for grid power and cut down on carbon pollution, Revolve is well on their way to fulfilling their core mission. “If a lot of people chose to use Light Assisted Power™ to recharge their devices,” Probst says, “it really would make a significant difference.”

The ?eMini absorbs sunlight through glass-encapsulated high-efficiency cells, which ensures many more years of use than lower-efficiency cells that are plastic encapsulation. And Revolve uses the term “Light Assisted Power™” rather than simply “solar power” because there’s much more to the ?eMini. “You can’t control the weather,” says Revolve’s executive vice president and co-founder, Todd Metlen. “A few days of foggy or cloudy conditions can render traditional solar-powered devices useless. We’re providing a comprehensive charging solution for your small electronic devices with many ways to power your devices. One of those ways is sunlight.”

Light Assisted Power™ is just one of a number of features that make the ?eMini the world’s most eco-friendly portable power source. The housing for the charger is made of a proprietary wood-plastic composite that combines bamboo sawdust waste with recycled ABS plastic, making for a stronger, lighter product and a more energy-efficient manufacturing process. And the device does not expire when its 2200mAh battery finally does — the battery is replaceable, making for a lifetime of use.
