Award-winning South African winemaker Corné Marias, who is known for his green credentials, has joined up with UK wine retailer Naked Wines (http://www.nakedwines.com).
Highly acclaimed by John Platter, South Africa’s number one wine writer, Corné now has ten wines for sale with the online farmer’s market, all of which are fully organic.
Based at Avondale winery in the Paarl region, Corné employs a rather unusual team to patrol his vineyards and protect the vines; a possee of peking ducks who are “very good at keeping unwanted pests away.”
“Corné has a superb range of wines, and they’re a fantastic edition to the Naked Wines site”, explained a wine expert at Naked Wines. “Customers tried the wines at a tasting we held back in June, and the overriding customer consensus was ‘you have to order them in’! Corné and vineyard owner Johnathan Grieve, who together achieved Avondales’ bio-dynamic and fully-organic status, are firm believers in ‘guiding their wines into the bottle with as little interference as possible, as well as keeping healthy, balanced soils.’
