PGCC Students Learn All About Course Design

P

Students at the Professional Golfers Career College take a wide variety of classes, but one class that generates a lot of excitement is Golf Course Development and Design. In this class students are required to delve deep and be creative while learning key concepts that range from course design to financing, planning, buying and marketing of a golf course.

To the people who know golf, they understand that it is more than just a game; it is a test. Because golf is such an individual sport, every golfer arrives on the greens with only one opponent; themselves. Golfers contend with sometimes unpredictable hurdles, like bad weather or an injury, and sometimes, golfers are up against steadfast challenges, like a well-designed course.

Course designers and developers are responsible for fusing artistry and playability, real with ideal, essentially marrying creativity with logic, and fun with business. Fusing the two can be difficult but when the class is through students don’t just have golf on their minds, they have it on both sides of their brain.
