Russell Watergardens & Koi Introduces New Bead Filter

Redmond, Washington – May 18, 2010 – Russell Watergardens & Koi announces this week a new product in its line-up of bead filters for water gardens and Koi ponds. The HBV-18 HydroBead Vortex™ Filter is the newest and smallest available designed by Russell Technologies. The product answers the growing demand for small bead filtration units. This one is 18 inches tall, 3 inches shorter than the smallest existing model.

People using a smaller pond or Koi tank need a smaller filtration system to handle the load without taking up quite as much space. Ideal for the pond of 3,000 gallons or less, this advanced water filtering unit allows people to keep more fish in much smaller bodies of water without compromising the water quality and cleanliness.

“We designed the bead filters so they process the maximum amount of ammonia in a small amount of space,” said John Russell, CEO of Russell Watergardens & Koi. “They clean more easily than other models. We use food grade Styrofoam with a tremendous amount of surface area. They backwash at a faster pace than anything else on the market.”

The HBV-18 HydroBead Vortex™ Filter is now available through their store and website. It meets the growing need that Russell sees from Koi owners that like to compete in shows. Small fish are bought and then fed over the winter to grow bigger in special indoor tanks. The fish are the right size for competition by the time spring rolls around. Most outdoor decorative Koi ponds are left alone in the wintertime, when the fish become dormant and do not eat.

“We had one specially designed for our showroom Koi pond, and our customers kept asking where they could find one. This one is ideal for smaller ponds. It meets the needs of Koi owners with hospital tanks or smaller indoor winter environments,” said Russell. “It is also more environmentally friendly than other filtration methods on the market, using less water to clean. It is more compact, creating a smaller footprint.”
