The Replication Server is assisting the leading Saudi-based Hardware Company to ensure high system performance, protect the transactional integrity of the data, and guarantee transaction recovery.
Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, July 14, 2008: Sybase Products Middle East today announced that SACO, the leading hardware company and main dealer for ACE Hardware in Saudi Arabia, has implemented Sybase Replication Server to manage and synchronize its data effectively. The implementation of Sybase Replication Server has helped the company ensure high system performance, protect the transactional integrity of its data, deliver reliable data to all its branches and guarantee transaction recovery.

SACO, a pioneer in the hardware retail and wholesale business in Saudi Arabia, is the largest home improvement superstore in the Kingdom. It is the main dealer for ACE Hardware in Saudi Arabia and sells more than 45,000 products including hardware, garden equipment, outdoor products, sports equipment, toys, plumbing, electrical, automotive, construction to name a few. The company has more that 800 employees working in 17 branches across the country.

“To keep up with our rapidly growing business, SACO was looking for an effective disaster recovery solution that would not only ensure data security but also protect the integrity of each transaction. We needed solution that maintains constant uptime and manages high-volume database load more efficiently,” said Mr. Raed Ayyoub, the IT Manager of SACO. “Sybase spent significant time with us to understand our business processes and operations and recommended the Replication Server. Thanks to Sybase replication, SACO is now able to exchange credit data online, resulting in country-wide data sharing, management and dissemination, significantly reducing the risk of data loss or application downtime, and leveraging our investment in our disaster recovery site,” Mr. Ayyoub added.

Sybase Replication Server moves and synchronizes data across multiple databases to handle challenges such as data replication, data management and heterogeneous replication while offering the highest level of data management. Sybase Replication Server maintains replicated data in multiple databases while ensuring the integrity and consistency of the data. It provides customers using databases in the replication system with local data access, thereby reducing load on the network and centralized computer systems.

“Unlike other data replication solutions currently on the market, Replication Server allows the disaster recovery site database to be leveraged for reporting purposes while functioning as a warm standby and enhancing an organization’s return on disaster recovery assets. In addition, it offers customers the flexibility to synchronize data bi-directionally across heterogeneous database platforms including Sybase ASE, Oracle, IBM DB2 and Microsoft SQL Server,” explained Mr. Adonis Kawal, Sales Manager at Sybase Products Middle East. “Sybase Replication Server allows enterprises to achieve business continuity for ‘always available’ systems, data migration, data and transaction synchronization between the organization and the user,” he added.

“The implementation was carried out seamlessly in two phases where we upgraded our existing hardware in phase one and deployed Sybase replication server in phase two. The whole process took approximately 30 days. The best part was that we did not face any interruption in production time and there was no interruption in our daily operations during the deployment of the solution. Sybase Replication Server has been able to deliver uninterrupted service, data security and is also very easy to manage and maintain.” Mr. Ayyoub concluded.
