Face painting, live music, gingerbread cookies and a good cause get everyone in the holiday spirit

Lewisville, TX (December 1, 2008) – Santa Claus announced today that he will make a special appearance at the North Texas gated home community of Castle Hills “Holiday on the Plaza” and Christmas tree lighting on Saturday, December 6, 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The festive holiday event takes place in the new Castle Hills Village Shops Plaza. Guests are encouraged to bring canned or non-perishable food items for donation to the North Texas Food Bank and all proceeds from the event will be donated to the program. “Holiday on the Plaza” will take place in the Castle Hills Village Shops Plaza on 2560 King Arthur Blvd. in Lewisville.

In recent months, the North Texas Food Bank has had a 25 percent increase in demand and Texas continues to rank as the third highest state for hunger. This year, Castle Hills will host a food drive for and donate all proceeds from the “Holiday on the Plaza” to the food bank.

“This event not only gives me the chance to enjoy live Christmas music with my friends and decorate my own gingerbread cookies, it gives me a chance to help other families keep food on their tables for the holidays,” Santa said, encouraging guests to support the food bank with donations.

The event will feature live holiday music from a jazz trio and local choirs. Families can take horse drawn carriage rides around the community while sipping hot chocolate. There will be arts and crafts activities for children, including gingerbread cookie and Santa hat decorating. The highlight of the evening will be lighting the 60-foot tree in the plaza, which will take place at 7:00 p.m. “I heard about the 60 foot Christmas tree and I can’t wait to see it!” said Santa Claus.

“Holiday on the Plaza” will take place in the Castle Hills Village Shops Plaza on 2560 King Arthur Blvd. in Lewisville, just north of the intersection of Hebron and Josey Lane. For questions or directions, please call the Castle Hills Community Center at 972-899-7500. All activities are either free or cost $1.
