From Olympic Gold Medals to the free throw line and the sounds from roaring fans after a field goal. Professional Athletes will join together for the 13th Annual Metro Atlanta National Football League Players Association Celebrity Golf Tournament Fundraiser. Monday November 9th, 2009 all roads will lead to the Northwood Country Club located at 3157 Club Drive Lawrenceville, GA. The day will deliver and exciting format with golfers playing on teams captained by a former and active professional athletes.

The professional line-up will include three-time NBA All-Star and former Atlanta Hawks member Dan Roundfield, former Atlanta Falcon Dewey McClain, Gold Olympic Medallist Ralph Boston and former New York Jets Defensive Back Erik McMillan just to name a few. This exceptional event will enable the association to increase its annual financial support to their Youth Scholarship Program and the many local charities, and nonprofit organizations that they have worked with over the past several years.

The NFLPA has helped other organizations raise funds by its members volunteering their time for sports tournaments, public appearances, and telethons. This year the event is being played on one of the finest golf courses in the Metro Atlanta area. The tournament will be a quality, someday, 18 hole, five (5) player team scramble. Registration will kick off at 10:00AM followed by Driving Range & Putting and the tournament will begin at the sound of the 11:00AM Shotgun Start. The event will end with a Celebrity/Sponsor Awards presentation at 5:00PM.

In 1995, the NFLPA established a youth scholarship program, which was designed to provide a high school graduate who did not receive an athletic scholarship to attend college. Any high school student (except children of NFLPA members) actively involved in athletics who maintains a 2.0 academic average with plans of attending college is eligible. In 2009 the NFLPA scholarship program awarded two scholarships to deserving students in the Metro Atlanta male recipient Josh Autrey of Thomas County Central High School and female recipient Khali Jones of Carver High School.
