Small Business with a Big Heart: Scottsdale children’s boutique owner pulls together local designers to create limited edition pieces in support of breast cancer

S

[Scottsdale, Arizona] – September, 25, 2009. When Lila Metcalf, owner of Scottsdale, Arizona, children’s boutique, Urban Kidz, went to a local fund raising event for breast cancer research and learned that 13 % of all women, or about 1 in 8, will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the US this year she got scared. Then she decided to do something about it.

“One of the most horrible things that can happen to a child is to lose their mom, period, let alone losing her to breast cancer!” Says Lila, who is also a mom to two children.

That is why she has partnered with local clothing designers to create a limited edition pink-ribboned clothing line to support a cure for breast cancer. And, for the first time ever, Urban Kidz is offering ladies sizes so that moms and daughters can wear matching shirts in support of a cure. 25% of the retail price of all the clothing sold will go directly to support breast cancer research.

The white tank tops that say “Peace, Love and Cure” on the front and are hand-made exclusively for Urban Kidz by Firedaughter Clothing. The pink ribbon on each top is hand-made out of genuine Swarovski Crystal. The tanks are available in girl’s sizes 2-14 and women’s sizes small, medium, and large and retail for $48 each.

Also available pink ribbon tutus made by Ivanhoe Couture. Tutus are hot in Hollywood right now, and these pink-ribboned tutus are even hotter. They come in girl’s sizes infant to size 7 and are sold exclusively at Urban Kidz. They also retail for $48.

The clothing is available in store until October 31st or until supplies run out. They can also be purchased via email by contacting Urban Kidz at [email protected].
