The 17th annual St. Francis Festival Blessing of the Animals and pet Adopt-a-Thon will take place at the Franciscan Renewal Center on Saturday and Sunday, October 30 and 31. Admission and parking are free and participants are encouraged to bring their pets with them to take part in festival events which include pet adoptions, fundraisers, and twice daily pet blessings. More than 400 needy animals will be available for adoption. All fundraiser proceeds will benefit the Emergency Medical Fund of PACC911, a co-sponsor of the event.
Scottsdale, AZ, September 22, 2010 — In conjunction with Phoenix Animal Care Coalition (PACC911), the Franciscan Renewal Center, a local retreat center, anticipates their 17th annual St. Francis Festival Blessing of the Animals and Pet Adopt-a-Thon. The event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, October 30 and 31 on the grounds of the Franciscan Renewal Center. Beginning at 10:00 a.m. and running until 3:00 p.m., the adopt-a-thon will seek to find homes for more than 400 animals from over 65 animal rescue groups.
Each year the festival attracts over 3,000 people to adopt animals and to participate in events including a dog wash fundraiser, a silent auction, a raffle, and the special pet blessings that take place at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. on both days of the event. Pet owners are welcome to bring their furry family members with them to enjoy the special proceedings. All proceeds earned during the St. Francis Festival will go towards the PACC911 Emergency Medical Fund which exists to offset medical expenses for animal rescue groups.
Those looking to adopt a new animal family member will have the opportunity to meet over 400 animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, and other furry friends who are sponsored by Arizona animal rescue groups. Both pure breeds and mixed breeds will be available for adoption fees ranging from $80 – $180 per pet. The Adopt-a-Thon is an excellent opportunity for animal lovers to provide forever homes for special animals who need their love.
The St. Francis Festival is a much loved and anticipated event for The Franciscan Renewal Center. Also known as “The Casa”, the center views this annual event as a special way to commemorate St. Francis’ regard for all living creatures. The daily pet blessings held by the friars are open to all pets and their families.
Free admission, free parking, and plentiful food will be available for all Festival guests.
