The South Camden Theatre Company Presents “Belmont Avenue Social Club”

The South Camden Theatre Company present Belmont Avenue Social Club opening February 12 8pm. Playwright Bruce Graham to appear opening night.

Camden, NJ, January 26, 2010 — The South Camden Theatre Company, a nonprofit professional theatre organization located in Camden, New Jersey continues its fifth season with a three week production of Bruce Graham’s “Belmont Avenue Social Club” opening Friday February 12 at 8pm. Mr. Graham will also visit South Camden Theatre Company for a special meet and greet session following the opening night performance on Friday, February 12.

Producing Artistic Director Joseph M. Paprzycki states, “‘Belmont Avenue Social Club’ is written by Barrymore Award winning and Philadelphia native playwright Bruce Graham and is directed by Ray Croce. Set in a Philadelphia Democratic club, this play about white male privilege, power and betrayal blends humor, and inspired wisdom. Bruce Graham’s ongoing participation in our production of his play has been an honor and I look forward to him meeting with our audience.”

Performances will be held Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Sunday afternoon at 1:30pm from February 12 – 28 at the South Camden Theatre Company’s stage currently located in the basement theatre of the Sacred Heart Church in Camden, New Jersey. The South Camden Theatre Company has been staging productions for five years in the basement of Sacred Heart Church and plans to move its performances across the street into the new 99-seat Waterfront South Theatre in 2010. Located at the corner of 4th and Jasper Streets in Camden, New Jersey, the new building is currently under construction at the site of the former bar named Walt’s Café, an establishment previously owned by Paprzycki’s grandparents and the setting for his first play and newly published book, “Last Rites” http://www.lastritesplay.com.
