Take that are a BRIT Award-winning English pop rock band, originated in Manchester, England in 1990. Original members were Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Robbie Williams, Jason Orange and Howard Donald. Gary Barlow is Take That’s front-man and primary songwriter. Take That perform primarily on vocals though each have some instrumental talent/song-writing capability. Take That achieved major success in the early to mid 1990s as a five person boyband act, with Robbie Williams.Take That sold more than 25 million records between 1991–96 before disbanding.
Take That’s dance-pop tunes and soulful ballads dominated the British charts in the first half of the 1990s. They released two of the best selling albums of the decade with “Everything Changes” (1993) and “Take That: Greatest Hits” (1996). Take That released two post-reunion albums: Beautiful World and The Circus. The band reformed with the exception of Robbie Williams in 2006 and released their first new single in 10 years: “Patience.” Following the success of Patience they released the album “Beautiful World” which topped sales in 2006 & sold more than the current release by Robbie!
During 2007 Take That also wrote a song for the motion picture Stardust titled “Rule the World” which reached number 2 in the UK charts and went on to be the 5th biggest selling single of 2007. Meanwhile the “Beautiful World” album was the fourth biggest selling album of 2007. In November 2006, Take That returned to the music scene after more than ten years with their hit single “Patience”. First reports in November 2009 suggested an upcoming reunion of Take That after it emerged that Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow had entered a recording studio in New York. Since the split in 1995 Take That have had three number one singles and two sell-out tours. The discography of Take That, consists of six studio albums, two compilation albums, twenty eight singles, and eleven video albums.
Take That have announced Progress Live 2011, for the support of sixth studio album, Progress. Take That are set to play at major UK arenas with a series of concerts at City of Manchester Stadium and London’s Wembley Stadium.
