A Toast to the Triangle™ Releases Podcast with Angus Barn
Raleigh Restaurant Reflects on 25 Years as Part of the Toast Event
RALEIGH, N.C. (January 28, 2010)?Mary Freeman, president and CEO of Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities (www.tammylynncenter.org), announces the release of a new podcast featuring commentary from Van Eure, owner and general manager of Raleigh restaurant Angus Barn, regarding the 2010 A Toast to the Triangle event. The podcast is now available for download at www.atoasttothetriangle.org. This year’s event – the Toast’s 25th anniversary – will be held March 7, 2010 at the North Carolina State University McKimmon Center in Raleigh.
In the podcast, Eure discusses what has attracted her business to continue to participate in the annual fundraising event for the past 24 years, and how the Toast has evolved since its inception in 1986.
“All you have to do is actually go to Tammy Lynn Center in person one time to understand what an incredible service that this is to our community,” says Eure in the podcast. “It’s an amazing and a very inspiring place, and I believe in what they’re doing. They do their job with a huge amount of care and integrity and it just makes me very proud to be involved with them…”
During the past 24 years, Toast patrons have become familiar with the Angus Barn’s world-class cuisine at the event, and this year will be no different. The Angus Barn will be serving its classics – chocolate chess pie and baby back spare ribs, says Eure.
When asked what she enjoys the most about the Toast, Eure remarks, “I think most we enjoy just the excitement that comes with being there with all the other restaurants…and the energy that’s created by everybody in one room all coming together for a great cause.”
As the signature fundraising event for the Tammy Lynn Memorial Foundation, the Toast offers guests samples from many of the Triangle’s finest restaurants and caterers, as well as friendly competition among the participants. To complement the food offerings, fine wine and specialty beer purveyors will provide samples of regional, national and international beverages. More than 1,200 guests attended in 2009, helping raise $191,000 for the Center’s programs and services.

A Toast to the Triangle was first held on April 6, 1986, at Carolina Place. Approximately $6,000 was raised to build residential facilities at the Tammy Lynn Center. Since then, the event has been held annually to raise funds for the Tammy Lynn Memorial Foundation, Inc., which in turn supports the following programs and services of the Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities: Community Residential, Early Childhood Intervention, Respite Care, and non-Medicaid Day Services. The event offers an astonishing array of culinary splendor from nearly 40 of the Triangle’s finest restaurants, caterers and purveyors of fine wines and specialty beers.
