The three red lights or better known as the ring of death is one of the most common Xbox 360 problems ever. When you see those scary three red lights then you know its a xbox 360 hardware failure with the console or the power supply.
If you see the red ring of death, go check the xbox 360 power device supply light, There are three colors for it:
1. The power device supply may have a green light.
Well, that’s the normal case here, this means that there is no problem at all with your power supp. It’s all with the actual console, the console is faulty & you need then to contact Xbox 360 customer support to send your console to get repaired because most of the retailers will not be able to exchange it for you unless you are still in the first month of your warranty, but you know you’ll lose nothing if you give it a shot with the retailer & try it there first that would be really better for you & quicker even.
2. Xbox 360 power supply light is Orange or yellow.
In normal conditions and when the Xbox 360 power supp. is on standby mode, its light is orange. So the problem isn’t with your xbox 360 console. But the problem is with the supply who can’t supply the console with power.
Please unplug your power supply from your Xbox360 console, then unplug the power cord from the wall outlet as well. Then unplug the xbox 360 power supplying from the power cord. Then wait for 2 or 3 minutes then plug everything back again. If the problem still persists, then it is a problem with your xbox 360 power supply.
In this case you must get in touch with Xbox 360 customer support to have your power device supply fulfilled.
3. The power supply light is red.
This might mean that the power supply connection to the Xbox 360 isn’t right or having a bit of a problem, unplug the power supply from the Xbox 360 console and from the wall out let like the previous step. wait for a few minutes then reconnect everything back and try again.
If the red light is still there, then it is a faulty supply device and you should get in touch with the Xbox 360 customer support to get it fixed.
4. Xbox 360 power supply light is not illuminating at all.
Most of the times this is because the power supply isn’t connected to any power source. Also double check the power cord for any faults or disconnections.
Try unplugging the Xbox 360 power supp. from the console & unplug the power cord from the wall outlet also unplug the Xbox 360 power supply from the power cord, wait for a minute then reconnect it all back, also try it on another wall outlet without any extension cord at all.
