The master of Yoga, Bharat Thakur, talks to After Hrs about his shift from the world of yoga to the film industry
The guru of yoga has been working on a new venture, and it has nothing to do with what hes best known for. Bharat Thakur has contributed a great deal in the field of yoga, but hes now shifted focus to the film industry — thanks to tremendous support from his wife Bhumika Chawla. Together, they now own a production house called Downtown Films. Their Telugu film Takita Takita that is scheduled for an October release features a host of newcomers.
Incidentally, Downtown Films has also tied up with Big Bang Productions which was the production house for the film Ghajini. The latest development comes in the form of Bharats online portal mayanagar.com. “The website was launched in December last year and has been doing rather well. It is an avenue for those aspiring to be part of the Indian film industry, and in some cases Hollywood too!
To begin with, this website is entirely film based and provides a platform for those who want to learn more about every film industry,” explains Bharat. The website also boasts of a film archive that talks about great works since 1930 and the information is available for public reference.
Apart from providing a platform of sorts for prospective actors, the site invites directors and scriptwriters to upload their scripts as well. “The writers hold the copyright for their scripts,” he adds. With the platform in place, Bharat now hopes to start a desi version of Facebook, which he plans to call www.wodin.com. “I have done my bit for yoga, now I want to use my business skills in various ventures,” says Bharat.
