All fuel burning appliances, including gas dryers, must be properly vented to release gas by-products such as carbon monoxide from homes
Professional dryer vent installation and regular dryer vent cleaning along with educating their customers are all in a day’s work for the Wizard of Central PA. The frequency of home fires increases during the winter time so the Wizard is taking action to make a difference in his community.
Jerry Strausbaugh is the owner of Dryer Vent Wizard in Central PA. His primary focus is to make clothes dryers safer and more energy efficient while educating consumers on the importance of proper appliance maintenance. “Over 17,000 dyer fires are reported each year with failure to clean dryer vents being the number one cause,” said Stausbaugh. “Improper dryer vent installation is another leading cause of dryer fires.”
The recent snow storm that slammed the east coast and dumped up to two feet of snow in some areas has caused additional concern for the Wizard as he warns consumers to make sure snow has not drifted over the dryer vent. “Before operating your clothes dryer make sure the vent outdoors is not obstructed,” said Strausbaugh.
As Jerry provides an important service he explains how dryer vent systems work and offers tips and information to his customers. “The dryer vent system is responsible for removing the heat and moisture from tumbling laundry as it dries,” said Strausbaug. “When the dryer duct is clogged with lint, air flow is restricted and moisture can accumulate in the system. When operating your clothes dryer, especially during freezing temperatures, make sure the vent outdoors is not frozen shut.”
Jerry Strausbaugh is proud to make a difference in his community as his services make clothes dryers safer and greener. His customers enjoy peace of mind that their dryer vent system is safe from fire and working efficiently to save energy. Dryer vent cleaning and proper dryer vent installation according to IRC Code promotes safety while extending the life of the clothes dryer.
Dryer vent cleaning maximizes dryer performance and reduces wear and tear on the appliance which can lead to pre-mature breakdown and significantly higher utility bills.
Dryer Vent Wizard technicians work hard to promote public awareness of the importance of professional dryer vent installation and regular dryer vent cleaning services. Increased drying time is the most common warning sign of dryer lint buildup in the dryer ducts which restricts air flow and leads to mechanical breakdown or worse, a dryer fire.
