hCG, a Weight Loss Option for Men

Yes, spring is here and summer is near, but it is not too late to prepare for swimsuit season say advocates of a much-buzzed about new weight loss program that utilizes hCG, a hormone naturally produced in both men and women, to help their patients shed unwanted pounds quickly and without surgery.

According to Dr. Scott Greenberg of the Magaziner Center for Wellness (located mere minutes from Philadelphia in Cherry Hill, NJ), while hCG has been called the pregnancy hormone diet, it is also a safe and effective weight loss option for men. The key element of the program is a daily, self-administered injection of the hormone in a level deemed appropriate for each individual by his doctor. The body contains thousands of hCG receptors, and in men the hCG binds LH (Luteinizing Hormone) receptors in the testicles, causing a release of testosterone. It also stimulates the release of thyroid hormones needed for regulation of metabolism. “hCG basically gives the body permission to access abnormal fat storage without triggering the usual response of very low calorie diets: slowed metabolism, crankiness and intense hunger,” explains Greenberg. The increase in testosterone also helps to boost good cholesterol (HDL) levels and therefore reduces the risk of heart disease in addition to helping you lose crucial amounts of weight. Other benefits of the hCG diet include:

– A new way of eating: During the program, participants eat a well- balanced meal including fresh fruit, vegetables and small amounts of organic protein
– Portion control: During the active portion of the plan, food intake is reduced to an average of 500 calories per day, and adjusted for more active individuals
– Increased metabolism: This natural hormone boosts the body’s metabolism and burns fat fast

“It is important that anyone considering utilizing hCG as a part of his (or her) weight loss efforts consult with a physician who is trained in its use,” explains Dr. Greenberg, who has, along with his partner, Dr. Allan Magaziner, successfully treated more than 1,000 patients between the Magaziner Center’s Cherry Hill and Langhorne offices using this approach. “There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the practice, which has been mostly fueled by the many web sites selling ‘imposter’ or even dangerous hCG, so people should be very cautious and never purchase hCG from anyone other than a licensed medical professional who is guiding them in its use.”
